Waldwick VAC is a non-profit volunteer organization whose services
are offered to the community for over fifty years. All of our volunteers
must pass an advanced EMS program which requires 120 hours of training
at the EMS School in Paramus or Mahwah.
Newest lifesaving equipment is available: the Corps now carries
Semi-Automatic External Defibrillators (SAED). The defibrillator
enables the EMT to sent an electrical charge throught the heart
to correct the insufficient heart arrhythemia, usually Ventricular
Fibrillation.
Since these cardiac arrhythemias are the leading cause of sudden
cardiac arrest in adults, the rapid employment of a defibrillator
greatly increases our chances to save lives.
In 1996, a resident of Waldwick was saved form cardiac arrest with
the use of the defibrillator. He was discharged from the hospital
shortly thereafter to return to his family.
While Waldwick VAC is staffed by volunteers and incurs no regular
overhead costs, it takes heavy expenses for the cost of equipping
volunteers with life-saving equipment such as oxygen, airway management
devices, trauma equipment, defibrillators and advanced 2-way radios,
in addition to ambulances.
In addition, volunteers are trained in the use of the most up-to-date
life-saving technology currently available. Funding and financial
support is provided by private donations and solicitation.
All of us at Waldwick Volunteer Ambulance Corps appreciate your
interest in donating for a noble cause of saving lives.
We are accepting donations by check and online.
